Unfortunately the Pet Porte Smart Flap will not work with old 10 digit microchips at this time.
If your cat has an old style microchip that is made up of a mixture of numbers and letters you will need to have your cat re-microchipped with a new European standard 15 digit pet microchip ID tag for the Pet Porte Smart Flap to work.
The chip we recommend above all others in this instance is the Bayer Tracer Advance because it tends to have the best read-range.
The new chip will take over from the old one so it is not necessary (and not advisable) to remove the old chip.
The older chips do not have as good a read-range as the new chips so would be unsuitable for the purposes of unlocking the cat door from a distance of up to six inches.
